Halloween Safety Tips

Follow these easy safety tips to ensure your little ghosts and goblins have a safe Halloween.

1. Use face paint or makeup instead of masks which cover the eyes and make it hard to see.

2. Patch test makeup/paint first to avoid skin irritation or allergic reaction.

3. Bring a flashlight.

4. Add reflective tape to costumes, skateboards, bicycles and other accessories so children can be seen easily in the dark.

5. Tackle one side of the street first, then the other. Remind children to look both ways before crossing the street and plan a route before setting out.

6. Only visit homes with the light on.

7. Never go inside. Remind children not to get into cars or enter the homes of strangers.

8. Inspect candy. Candy should not be eaten if the package is already open.

9. Parents get to keep a quarter of the candy children collect.

10. Have fun!

Giving Tuesday 2017

GivingTuesday Countdown

The 5th annual Giving Tuesday Canada campaign is November 28, 2017. It’s a Canadian day of giving and volunteering, taking place each year after Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Giving Tuesday is a day where charities, companies and individuals join together to rally for their favorite causes.

Family Service Regina’s Giving Tuesday “Essential Stuff” campaign aims to ask our community to give to our organization so we can continue to provide the hope, support and free services offered to those who are most vulnerable. Every year, our Admin team shops and fills Christmas stockings with the basic essentials that we often take for granted, such as; Toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, two hours of child minding, and phone cards for victims escaping domestic violence. These stockings filled with the essentials go directly to our neediest clients at Christmas time.

The success of Giving Tuesday depends on the collective efforts of a unique group of partners, supporters, and their participation. You are the most important part of making this movement a reality. We have put together this toolkit for you in order to provide you with resources you may need in order to help make this the biggest season of giving yet!

We hope these materials will help you embrace Giving Tuesday in a way that is most meaningful to you and our organization.
