Services for Victims of Family Violence
FAMILY SERVICE REGINADOMESTIC VIOLENCE UNIT(306) 757-6675Family Service Regina's Domestic Violence Unit provides post-crisis follow-up support and services to victims of intimate partner and family abuse and violence including risk assessments and safety planning, information, referrals, advocacy, and assistance through the criminal justice system. Services are provided at no cost to our clients.
Domestic Violence Victim Services works cooperatively with the Regina Police Service in providing support to victims of domestic violence who are or will be involved in the criminal justice system. Domestic Violence Victim Service Workers oversee the DVERS, Cellarm and Recall Programs, co-facilitate monthly adult court preparation sessions and provide victim support as part of a collaborative community response to incidents involving Regina's highest risk domestic violence perpetrators.
The Domestic Violence Emergency Response System (DVERS), Cellarm and Recall Programs provide enhanced access to emergency services and security for the threat of violence by an abusive ex-partner for victims and their children. A court imposed protective order is required prior to receiving a DVERS or Cellarm. The DVERS and Cellarm Programs are collaborative community responses provided by ADT Security Services Canada Inc, SaskTel, SaskTel Mobility, Prairie Mobile Communications, The Wireless Age, Regina Police Service and Family Service Regina. The Recall Program involves the distribution of donated used cellular telephones for use by victims of domestic violence.
The Domestic Violence Victim Caseworker Program provides supportive services to victims whose partners or ex-partners are involved in Regina's Domestic Violence Treatment Option Court.
Domestic Violence Outreach provides support services to individuals and families planning to achieve violence-free lifestyles. Domestic Violence Outreach workers coordinate the shelters' wait lists, follow-up with victims initially responded to by Mobile Crisis Services and facilitate a number of support groups. Guidance to the Program is provided by an advisory committee comprised of Isabel Johnson Shelter (YWCA), Regina Transition House, Mobile Crisis Services and immigrant Women of Saskatchewan-Regina Branch.

With the objective of promoting healing and personal growth, the Outreach Drop In Group meets every Wednesday from 6:30 - 9:00 pm breaking only for the month of August and the last two weeks of December. There is no registration required. Information, education and encouragement are provided to worm and men who have experience domestic abuse and violence. When Love Hurts is a 10 week educational support group offered twice annually for young women ages 13 to 22 who have experienced and abusive relationship. The objective is to break the cycle of violence and encourage healthy relationships. Pre-registration is required. Transportation and childcare are provided as needed at no cost to participants. In two evening sessions that are offered six times a year, the Women's Resource Group provides information about the different types and effects of relationship abuse and violence, safety planning and community recourses. Participants include victims and survivors, those providing support to victims, employees and volunteers new to the field, and students attending post secondary education. Participation in this group is required before entering the Women's Support Group. Pre-registration is preferred, but not required. The Women's Support Group is a 9 week educational group offered three times a year to assist victims and survivors in moving toward achieving and maintaining a self reliant and violence free lifestyle. Participants acquire insight into their own behavior and develop coping skills conducive to their personal advancement. Pre-registration is required as participants must attend the Women's Resource Group and complete an intake interview prior to entering into the Women's Support Group.
