Teen Parent Programs

iStock-teen-mom.pngThe Teen Parent Program is set up to provide support and counselling service to pregnant and parenting teens.

The majority of participants in the program are students of the Shirley Schneider Support Centre (Located at Balfour Collegiate), an in-school program fir pregnant and parenting teens. Each semester approximately 100 students ranging from 13-21 years of age have access to this program.

A complete assessment of needs is provided by the coordinator of the program in conjunction with the teen parent.

  • Infant development
  • Group support
  • Legal referrals
  • Education planning
  • Career planning
  • Assistance in securing housing
  • Transportation
  • Problem Solving
  • Decision making
  • Financial information
  • Access and Custody Referrals
  • Relationship counselling
  • Support Agency referrals

 We respond to many requests for presentations to high school students and other groups about the realities of teen parenting healthy and safe relationships.
