Family Service Regina strives to support pregnant and parenting youth by fostering positive human connections, whether they are balancing high school education or navigating the challenges of young parenthood.
Students balancing the responsibilities of raising children while attending school may encounter various challenges. To support them, we offer a wide range of services, including access to health resources such as immunizations, prenatal classes, and a nurse practitioner. Additionally, we provide cost-free daycare, nutritious meals and snacks, parenting support, and dedicated Young Parent Support Counsellors to assist with non-academic concerns.

The Shirley Schneider Support Centre, located within Balfour Collegiate, is an alternative high school setting for pregnant and/or parenting women between the ages of 14 and 21. Our mission is to provide a safe and welcoming environment where young women are provided with the academic and social supports necessary to obtain their high school education. We offer a Regular 24 Credit graduation route as well as an Adult 12 program, which are dependent on the individual needs of the student.
Our Young Parent Support Counsellors are available year-round, including during the summer holidays!
If you need support when school is out—whether it’s information, crisis intervention, problem-solving, or just a conversation with a supportive adult—please don’t hesitate to reach out. If we’re unable to provide the exact help you need, we can connect you with other resources.
We are grateful for any donations we receive. We accept donations of unopened formula, diapers, baby wipes, change tables, cribs, and Pack N’ Plays. Occasionally, we also issue call-outs for furniture, clothing, or Christmas gifts through our social media platforms.
Please follow us on our social media accounts to stay informed on how you can help support our community. If you have immediate donations to drop off, we recommend visiting Carmichael Outreach.
